Make a better password with Passphraser

There was an email and an XKCD comic a while ago that said if you use a phrase instead of a word for your password it would be much more secure and less prone to being hacked. Apparently this has been something that has been going around for a few years (I didn't know you could use a space in passwords) but just recently came to light in the general public's eyes. Well, you can imagine, if it's hard to come up with one word as a password it's four times as hard to come up with four (per the XKCD comic). In steps Passphraser, an app that randomly generates a phrase or four words to use as a password. There are a few options you can toggle like turning on/off XKCD mode, using long or short words, and using a specific word in the phrase. Also, if you long-press on the screen after you generate the phrase you like the app will copy the phrase to your clipboard, ready to paste into a password field.

Wolfenstein 3D clone for Android: Vogelstein 2D!

One last review for tonight, this one is a bird's-eye-view clone of Wolfenstein 3D, call Vogelstein 2D. I really had a lot of fun playing this and can't wait to see what new levels the dev adds and, hopefully, get multiplayer support. The game is free on the market, it is ad-supported, and just came out yesterday.

Minecraft Pocket Edition Alpha App Review

Today, Mojang AB released Minecraft: Pocket Edition Alpha (v0.1.0) to the Android Market specifically for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. Luckily, I still have one sitting around so I got the app and began to play. I figured all of you who don't have an Xperia Play would like to see what you are missing and I recorded a video! I hope you all enjoy and see what you are going to get when the game comes out for more Android devices.

Android gets a new Rogue-like game -- Infinte Dungeon!

Redditor, Robert Morrell, announced a few weeks ago that he was making a Rogue-like, dungeon crawler for Android and was looking for a few beta testers. And, since I'm always eager to test out a new app, I applied and he sent me a link. I've been testing and playing the game since then, on both my HTC Thunderbolt and the Sony Xperia Play and now that he has officially released the app I'm posting a video review. The game is superb, it is a great addition to a gamer's apps and for $2.44 it's a good price.

Here's a link to the TRIAL version, which lets you play the first 15 levels, and here's one to the full game. I hope you guy enjoy it as much as I did!

Verizon gets a ruggedized Android phone

Today, along with news of the HTC Droid Incredible 2, Verizon also announced that it will release it's first ruggedized Android phone -- the Casio G'zOne Commando -- on April 28th, as well.

This phone meets military standards so it should take a beating and keep on ticking! Whether that's the truth is bound to be tested by some brave soul but until then we will just have to believe what Casio and Verizon say. It will come with Casio's "advanced G'zGEAR software," and all I can see from that is that they will have a few apps and possibly a few widgets that will come stock from Casio. Expect these to be on other phones as soon as XDA users get ahold of one of these. Other specs include encryption for secure email, Android 2.2, and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera,

I'll put up a more thorough review once I actually hold the device in my hands, until then check out the press release after the jump.

Verizon announces HTC Droid Incredible 2

Verizon has OFFICIALLY announced the HTC Droid Incredible 2 for release on April 28th. Seems like they picked one day to release all their new phones and are going with it.

The phone will be running Android 2.2, have a 4-inch screen, a 1-GHz Snapdragon processor, and sport HTC's Sense UI. So, when it comes down to the basics all that's different is a slightly larger screen (the Droid Incredible's screen was 3.7-inches). HTC has also thrown in a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera to go along with the 8-megapixel rear-facing camera that was already present in the original Droid Incredible.

So, a year later and we see a slightly updated version of the HTC Droid Incredible with slightly larger screen and an extra camera. Is that all HTC could come through with? I'll post a full review of the phone once I get a review unit in, but until then hit the jump for the press release.
